Technologies to help us build a healthier future: bioprinting and our lab were on-air on the Dutch broadcaster NPO2 yesterday!
Check out our contribution to the show "Jekels jacht naar het eeuwinge leven" on NPO start: https://npo.nl/start/serie/jekels-jacht-naar-het-eeuwige-leven/afleveringen/seizoen-1

It was great fun to meet science communicator Diederik Jekel on his quest, and to explain our work, showcasing our #volumetric bioprinting tech to print cell-laden tissues in few seconds.
In this show, Diederik and co-host Catalina Mosquera Roasa are investigating the boundaries of human life, and how to stretch them. The question that motivates this hunt is bold, and gives a powerful opportunity to spark discussion and stimulating thoughts, and importantly to make cutting-edge research visible to all audiences.
Tissue engineering, regenerative medicine and #bioprinting are maturing fields, and labs across the world, including ours, are making progresses to build human tissues in the lab. We are still far from making organs ready to become the replacement for donation in transplant medicine. Yet, we are creating increasingly complex models that help us understand betteruman biology, and open possibilities for personalised drug discovery. We are not talking about "eeuwinge leven" (eternal life), but "beter leven": improving the quality of life is what this research and innovation in biomedical sciences is helping to deliver!
Thanks Diederik and team for your impressive work in making science accessible to everyone!
